It's a power-franchise triple-strike this week.

First, we interview the producer of Sonic Forces: Speed Battle, before chatting amongst ourselves about the game itself.

Then we turn our attention to Final Fantasy Dimensions II, a sequel five years in the making (well, it's been five years since the first one anyway).

Also: after last week's prologue it's the REAL Super Mario Odyssey chat with Nintendophiles Em and Glen.
Download episode 417:MP3 (right click to save-as, left click to play)iTunes

This week's Apple Arcade game is perhaps one of the service's most interesting yet. It's called Scrappers, and it comes to us from Q-Games, creator of the excellent PixelJunk series. What's it about? Well, it's about bin men.

It's described as a "hyper-stylised futuristic waste-management beat 'em up", which, c'mon, has to be one of the best concepts for a video game in some time. Bin men are unsung heroes in reality, but in Scrappers' dystopian future, they're seldom welcomed by the locals.

In a world now ruled by robots, old bits of rubbish have naturally spiked in value. Violent gangs have now grasped the opportunity to acquire and sell that which the bin men aim to collect, hence why you'll so often be met with aggressive robot henchmen.

You can go it alone or team up with others to keep the streets clean, and you may need some extra help when it comes to the game's tricky boss fights. By the looks of things, it could prove to be a fairly stressful experience for some, what with its constantly escalating action and onslaught of enemies.

You might remember that Q-Games was also behind one of last year's Apple Arcade releases, Frogger in Toy Town. As I say, I'm a big fan of the PixelJunk series, and the team's games are typically super polished and distinct.

Purely based on the screenshots and brief gameplay I've seen, I really love Scrappers' sense of style and unique premise, so I'll definitely be checking it out when it launches for Apple Arcade later today. Here's a link to the game's store page.

In other Apple Arcade news, updates for Lego Brawls, Stranded Sails, and Secret Oops! are all set to arrive today. Next week's Apple Arcade game is the 3D puzzler A Fold Apart.
Searching for more quality action games? Here are 25 of the best for iPhone and iPadTHE FOX and the Leopard disputed which was the more beautiful of the two. The Leopard exhibited one by one the various spots which decorated his skin. But the Fox, interrupting him, said, "And how much more beautiful than you am I, who am decorated, not in body, but in mind."

Malaysian studio Weeev's first game is to be an otome (girl game) dating sim called Purrfectly Ever After.

The hope is that the game will "bridge the gap between Japanese-centric otome games told in a not-so-Japanese point of view and storyline."

As that title suggests, there is a cat theme at play here, in fact, you play as a cat that has been turned into a human.

The story goes that this cat was living a life of stealing food and on night, when feeling sorry for herself, she wished that she could be a human so she could earn food more honestly.

Well, what this cat didn't know is that she has a fairy godfather who heard this wish and made it true. So, yeah, now she's a human and she's after some of those hunky human men.
The Fox and the Grapes
Shiny mobile MOBA Vainglory has been updated with a few new bits and bobs, chief among them a new hero.

It’s called Skaarf, and it's a pudgy little dragon that can belch fire. Skaarf is good at long range and AOE attacks, and plays well as a member of a team.

Elsewhere private matches have been added. These let you create a party of six and jump into a fight without anyone else barging in on your fun.

There are some other tweaks and balances, including adding Party Queue chat, which will be turned on region-by-region to ensure stability.

You can check the full list of new additions on the game's App Store page.
