For those who love colour, cuteness, and strategic elements to their gameplay, you might find RainbowTail is right up your alley.

At a first glance, Fighters of Fate might seem like a rather fancy-looking version of rock, paper, scissors.

It's a head-to-head card battler, where each card is given one of three coloured glyphs. And there's a clear hierarchy about which colour will win out, when two are pitted against each other.

Red attacks are stronger than green attacks, which are effective against blue attacks, which win out against red'uns. If the two cards are of the same colour, both attacks are executed.

But rock, paper, scissors isn't a very deep game. You don't exactly see tournaments live on TV and, last I checked, it wasn't being played at the Olympics. For the most part, it's used to decide who pays for pizza.

But Fighters of Fate is smarter than that. Cards aren't just about colours - they also have abilities. And these will help players - who can fight online - devise a strategy.

So if your opponent uses a card that will, say, power up her red skills for the next few rounds, maybe you should deploy a few blue cards to defend yourself. Or was it just a bluff, and you're about to fall into a trap?

And if her health is running low, you could suspect that she's about to play a green healing card. Maybe break out the red strength attacks.

These battles play out in stylish anime cutscenes with customisable characters. The whole thing looks like a cool new fighting game, but this is a card battler through and through. It will test your strategic smarts rather than your ability to input combos.

Fighters of Fate is coming to iOS and Android, and it's planned for launch later this year.

Starlink: Battle for Atlas has just received a huge new content update, introducing new enemies, story missions, a photo mode, and much more. All of the content is free, and tacks quite a few new features onto the game.

New enemies like Legion and Obelisks present fresh challenges in battle, alongside some new Flora and Fauna that you’ll likely encounter in the wild. Gloom Gobs and Bile Bombs, for example, follow their opponents, growing larger and larger as they absorb gunfire, eventually exploding, causing a whole lot of damage. Ashworms and Sandworms are another large, new threat. Hiding in acid pools and beneath the sand, these giant worms will attack ships on sight, and they pack quite a punch.

"It's well you have, dearie. You won't be half so likely to be trodden on, believe ME! My, how that golden glow of yours is blooming! Your garden looks fine. Poor Elizabeth always took such care of it."

Rayark's known for high quality mobile experiences that are polished beyond what you'd usually expect on your platform.

Implosion is still one of the best premium ARPG that you can get on mobile and is incredibly satisfying. It even got updated with more content a little while ago with a new campaign and more added to the game for free.

Rayark's now looking at its next game, Soul of Eden, announced earlier this year. It's a mix of card game and MOBA, a cocktail that sounds obviously familiar now thanks to Clash Royale but I'm curious to see how Rayark will approach this genre and if the game is going to be free to play or premium.

It released this short trailer in January:

Garena Free Fire, the popular battle royale title, performed well on the esports stage last year, peaking at 2 million concurrent viewers during the World Series. Now they've announced the major tournaments that will take place throughout the year alongside the prize money that will be up for grabs.

The first of those tournaments will take place in Jakarta, Indonesia on 19th April. This will be the Free Fire Champions Cup and qualifiers for the tournament have already begun. Following a series of local and regional qualifiers, 12 teams from 9 different regions will take part in the tournament proper.

Then, later in the year during November the Free Fire World Series will return to Brazil once again. This was the tournament where Free Fire saw 2 million viewers enjoying some battle royale action, a record for a mobile esports tourney.

There will be four tournaments in total in 2020 though, so fans won't have to wait from April to November to see the elite playing Garena Free Fire. In addition to those two events, there will also be tournaments in June and July, with Garena promising them to be first-of-their-kind. We can expect to hear more details about what that means in due course.

The total prize pool available in 2020 will be $2 million. Of course, that's split between the various winners and runners up but it's still a sizeable amount on offer for the professional Free Fire players. More tournaments will also offer an additional opportunity for up and coming players to be spotted by the better teams.

It looks set to be a big year for Garena Free Fire then, with the addition of two more tournaments alongside their existing two. The growing popularity of the game definitely proves there's an appetite for mobile esports.

Garena Free Fire is available now on the App Store and Google Play. It's a free-to-play game with in-app purchases.
Fancy yourself as a future esports star? Here are 25 of the best multiplayer games on iPhone and iPad to compete in

"It's true. That's exactly what I am--a hateful little beast. There's something I've GOT to tell you, Anne. I suppose it will make you despise me, but I MUST confess it. Anne, there have been times this past winter and spring when I have HATED you."

A new mobile Tomb Raider game is on the way, it has been announced today. It'll be called Tomb Raider Reloaded and it's slated to release for mobile sometime in 2021 with the game being developed by Emerald City Games and Square Enix London.

We don't have a whole lot of information just yet beyond who will be developing the game and a rough release date. However, we do know that Tomb Raider Reloaded will be a free-to-play action arcade game, though the initial trailer Square Enix has released doesn't show too much in the way of gameplay.
Check out this brand-new teaser trailer for Tomb Raider Reloaded, developed by our friends at Emerald City Games & the Square Enix London mobile team – coming to your mobile device in 2021! pic.twitter.com/I7ZLjMtpaq— Tomb Raider (@tombraider) November 23, 2020You can see the art style they've opted to use, however, by checking out the embedded tweet above. It also gives us a glimpse of what we'll be coming up against in Tomb Raider Reloaded too, with wolves, a hideous bunch of spiders, some kind of rock golem and a tyrannosaurs rex all making an appearance in the trailer.
Lara Croft GO - One of the best puzzle games this year
In addition to these potential enemies, there are also the usual spike and arrow-based traps that you'll be familiar with if you've virtually raided some tombs at some point in your gaming history. Of course, we also catch a brief glimpse of Lara Croft herself, who – along with the enemies – looks a little bit like a figurine brought to life, in my opinion at least.

Tomb Raider Reloaded will be heading to mobile sometime next year. It will be a free-to-play game, presumably with in-app purchases. Details are still fairly thin but we'll be sure to update you as and when we learn more.
Looking for more action-packed games to play on the go? Here are 25 of the best available for Android
