3、
Valve's Steam Link Android application has left beta today after only a few months. It now promises to support over 200 devices alongside several controller shortcut options. The app makes use of the same streaming tech that's found in the Steam Link peripheral.

To make use of the App you will, of course, need a good internet connection and Valve says that you'll require a 5GHz router to make the most of Steam Link. With Google Stadia releasing in November the game-streaming battle continues to heat up. Whilst the Stadia will only be compatible with Pixel phones on launch, the Steam Link is compatible with a wider array of devices albeit with mixed results.

Officially, Steam Link only offers support for the Xbox One X and Steam Controller, though users have reported they have had some success with other options. Valve acknowledges this may also be the case but stresses they are not officially supported so may not work as well. It does also support touch controls, although this is unsurprisingly limited.

The App itself has received a mixed reception from users since its launch. This is likely due to the huge number of variables involved. Not everyone is using the same setup or has the same internet connection so while it may work flawlessly in some cases it's entirely possible it won't in others.

The app is available for free on Google Play so if you've got a library of Steam games you've not touched in a long time it might be worth trying out. Bear in mind that you still need your computer switched on to pair the devices so it might not seem all that appealing.

If that doesn't deter you or you're just simply interested to see how well it would work with your setup then Valve has created a guide to help you get started alongside some troubleshooting.
Check out our news section to discover the latest, and greatest, games.
